A Divemaster supervise and guide certified divers under the water. He needs to show a role model and can as well assist instructors during some dive courses.

For a divemaster internship, we will sponsor most of your training up to divemaster.

The Dive Master program will make you feel self- confident and responsible. You will learn to lead the dives of certified divers and assist the instructors during courses if needed.

Divemaster problem solving may include more than safety-related issues, as its includes handling customer service, business and operational challenges.

During your course you will assist our dive instructors when they will guide or teach. You will do a minimum of 20 dives and assist sometimes in the swimming pool for dive courses. There is as well some theory to do through. (See Schedules – program herebelow)

Pre requisites

PRE REQUISITES FOR YOUR DIVEMASTER COURSE:

To start the course of dive guide, you need

> to be a stress & rescue diver,

> to have logged a minimum of 40 dives

> to have completed the following specialty programs, or provide proof of experience by showing a minimum of five (5) logged experience dives in each of the following areas: Navigation, Night/Limited Visibility and Deep Diving.

> to be old enough : Minimum Age: 15 y. old for Dive Guide / 10y. old for Science of Diving / 18y. old for Divemaster

> to be available for 3 month

 

Prior to training, candidates must have completed a Dive Guide Training Record including: Statement of Understanding Professional Training Assumption of Risk and Liability Release SSI Dive Professional Agreement All candidates participating in professional level training must have digital copies of the following documents uploaded into MySSI before the final certification(s) can be issued: RSTC Medical Statement signed by a physician within one (1) year React Right Certification OR Proof of CPR training within two (2) years Proof of First Aid training within two (2) years Proof of Oxygen First Aid training within (2) years.

TO BE CERTIFIED AS A DIVEMASTER YOU WILL NEED:

Dive master Course: – Dive Guide Course – Science of diving Course –

Experience in Deep diving (min 4 dives)

Experience in Night diving (min 4 dives)

Experience with Underwater Navigation procedures (min 4 dives)

and you’ll also need to have 60 LOGGED DIVES by the end of Divemaster Course.

 

With the Divemaster internship you’ll be given the opportunity to complete the above mentioned courses and also to join in on several other additional courses, programs and dives that will help increase your knowledge and experience in diving. You will find that these added skills and experience in the real world of recreational diving are essential and are actually expected by all those who operate at a professional level in the today’s diving industry.

Schedules - Program

SCHEDULES:

A Dive master Course last about 6 weeks. The dive center is open from 10am to 8pm.

When we are going to Sail Rock, Anthong National Park or Koh Tao, boats are leaving at 8am and coming back at 2pm. However when we are diving from the beach around Phangan schedules are more flexible depending of the tides.

For the schedules of the theory time in the classroom, the program is flexible.

 

PROGRAM:

STEP1: Dive Guide

This program gives you the skills and experience required to safely lead groups of certified divers, and is the first step towards an exciting career as an SSI Dive Professional. Professional Dive Guides can work for SSI Dive Centers, guiding certified divers in a variety of environments and conditions.

Theory: 1) What is a dive guide? 2) Preparing for the dive 3) Conducting the dive 4) Dive emergencies 5) Your career with SSI

Practical Applications: 1) Candidate Water Fitness Evaluation 2) Snorkeling Skills Workshop 3) Open Water Diver Skills Workshop 4) Diver Stress and Rescue Skills Workshop 5) Dive Briefing Evaluation 6) Dive Guiding Evaluation 7) Deep and Night Diving Workshop 8) Mapping of a dive site

 

STEP2: Science of diving

This program provides an in-depth and detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It is required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs.

 

First you need to be certified Dive Guide and Science of Diving specialist. Meanwhile you need to log dives to reach 60. Finally you will be automatically certified Divemaster.
